Financial Aid

Introduction

There are many good financial aid sites available on the Net. We are listing some of our favorites, and have separated them into three distinct categories:

  1. General Information on Financial Aid
  2. Great sources for specific "how to" information
  3. Superior sources for searching for scholarships and alternative funding for college

General Information on Financial Aid

  • http://www.act.org - A good site about college and career training in general, but also some excellent financial aid references
  • http://www.collegeboard.org - Another good site, similar to ACT. Includes the ability to calculate an estimate of college costs and the amount you as a family might be expected to contribute.
  • Mapping Your Future - College, Career, and Financial Aid Information for students and parents. A good starting point for things other than financial aid

Great sources for specific "how to" information

  • http://www.fafsa.ed.gov - The official government site for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). It has tutorials, sample FAFSA scenarios, and the ability to file "online."
  • The Student Guide - The electronic version of explanations on the entire financial aid procedure
  • Department of Education Information for Students - General information on a variety of topics helpful to students and parents

Scholarships, alternate funding and other information
